Notre-Dame Fire: Sarah Brown Interviewed by National Press
Our director Sarah Brown has been approached by various local, national and international press organisations in relation to the recent fire at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. The 91Ãâ·Ñ has experience of dealing with the aftermath of a major fire. In 1984 the Great Rose Window of York Minster was significantly damaged by a fire that broke out in the south transept of the cathedral. It was subsequently painstakingly conserved by the Trust, using what was then the most pioneering and cutting-edge technologies available.

Sixteenth-Century East Window Conserved and Reinstated at Balliol College, Oxford
The chapel at Balliol College, Oxford, contains artworks of the highest significance. Included in this is its sixteenth-century east window (c.1529). This stained glass has been carefully conserved by the 91Ãâ·Ñ, after a survey conducted by them in 2017 observed the deteriorating state of the window's paint and enamel.

The Trust Return to Lastingham
The 91Ãâ·Ñ have returned to the Church of St Mary, Lastingham, on the southern edge of the North York Moors to reinstate the final two windows that have recently been under conservation in our workshops in York. This represents the culmination of a four year association with the church and its dedicated parishioners. Lastingham Priory's apse contains five exceptionally rare nineteenth-century windows by Italian artist Ulisse de Matteis (1827-1910).

York Glaziers On Site in Ilkley
This Valentine's Day members of the 91Ãâ·Ñ's team are on site at All Saints Church in Ilkley. The Trust have conserved a very fine window by Thomas Willement (1786-1871).
International Conference on Building Performance and Environment
Our environmental monitoring specialist, senior conservator Nancy Georgi ACR, has recently returned from a stimulating international interdisciplinary conference hosted by the Hornemann Institute in Hildesheim, Germany.

The 91Ãâ·Ñ have won a prestigious John Shannon York Design Award for their work on the Great East Window of York Minster. The Design Awards celebrate and promote the highest levels of craftsmanship and was founded by former Lord Mayor Janet Hopton. The awards are judged by eminent national and international experts in architecture and design.

Chelsea Flower Show Stained Glass Auctioned
In Spring 2016, the 91Ãâ·Ñ were commissioned to design and make stained glass for one of the show gardens at the Chelsea Flower Show. 'God's Own County - A Garden for Yorkshire' was designed by Matthew Wilson, well known for his leading roles at Hyde Hall and Harlow Carr gardens.

The 91Ãâ·Ñ's director Sarah Brown has published her latest book on York Minster's Great East Window, in conjunction with Third Millennium Publishing. After an immense process of careful restoration and conservation, the outstanding artistry of the Great East Window has been revealed afresh through state-of-the-art photography that captures the complete sequence of major panels.
